sysyphean tasks
On one of the podcasts I listen to someone talked about how getting people to understand how tariffs and foreign aid were actually *great* for the american economy was a sysyphean task, and the interviewer said:
You know, I’m tired of people talking bad about sysyphus… at least he was fully employed in a recession proof industry that couldn’t be outsourced.
Ha! Now, for the record, this is not a productive economy, due to the fact that at the end of the day everything is the same. If this was a good economy, the economy of the 19th century would be better than the economy of the 21st century. This is called a “make work bias”… making jobs isn’t good.
