NFS, thou shamest me
I don’t know why I always forget this. I’ll get on a brand-spanking new server that I have somewhere, and I’ll have to NFS mount something. I’ll make sure that I am running the right command, that my options are all correct, that my incantations are all in line… auto,nfsvers=3,exec,bg,intr,rsize=32767,wsize=32767,tcp,user, nonsense, nonsense, nonsense… only to find that my mount command hangs.
Why oh why must NFS hang so when I try to mount it?
And then, dmesg to the rescue… some idiot forgot to turn the portmap service on the machine. *sigh* alas, I am that idiot.
So many leaky abstractions, so little time.
